Ovulation Study
An ovulation study, also called follicular monitoring, follows follicle development to help assess ovulation and plan fertility care.
How monitoring works
Ultrasound scans at intervals during the menstrual cycle allow the doctor to observe developing follicles and the uterine lining. Cycle history and selected hormone tests can provide additional information. The number and timing of visits depend on the individual treatment plan.
When it may be useful
Monitoring may be discussed for irregular cycles, suspected ovulation problems or during treatment with fertility medicines. It can also help coordinate the timing of insemination or other planned fertility procedures.
Understanding the findings
Scans can help guide care, but they cannot show whether an egg will fertilize or an embryo will implant. Follow the schedule provided by the treating team. Do not change fertility medicines yourself; the doctor uses monitoring results to decide whether any adjustment is needed.
