Why hormones are assessed
Hormones coordinate the menstrual cycle and egg development. An investigation starts with your cycle history, symptoms and previous results. Testing is selected for the clinical question, rather than ordering the same panel for everyone.
Tests your doctor may discuss
Depending on your history, tests may include progesterone to assess recent ovulation, thyroid function, and selected reproductive hormones. AMH and other ovarian reserve assessments may help guide treatment planning, but do not alone determine whether you can conceive naturally.
Timing and interpretation
Some results depend on the day of your menstrual cycle, medicines and other health conditions. Confirm the timing with your doctor and bring a list of current medicines. Results should be considered alongside your age, history, scans and any partner investigations.
