Reasons for pelvic imaging
Your doctor may recommend a scan for pelvic pain, unusual bleeding, a suspected cyst or questions about the shape of the uterus. The technique depends on the clinical question.
Different imaging methods
A standard scan provides two-dimensional views. A 3D scan can add anatomical information in selected cases, while 4D displays moving three-dimensional images. More complex imaging is not automatically better or necessary.
